After graduating with a degree in biochemistry from the University of Texas, Denise DeMartino worked for the Texas Department of Health as an analytical chemist for 4 years. She became certified as a chemistry teacher and since then has had much success with students involved in the AP program. She began working at Westlake High School in 1998. Currently, she teaches Chemistry and serves as Science Department Chair. Ms DeMartino, affectionately know by her students as "DeMo", has been a consultant for the College Board for 17 years doing numerous 1 day, 2-day, and summer institute presentations across the country. She also does extensive work for AP Strategies and the National Math and Science Initiative dealing directly with underachieving students by aiding in their AP exam preparation. DeMo works with teachers across the state helping them with vertical alignment in science and with preAP and AP program preparation. In addition, she acts as an AP Exam Table Leader and is also contracted by ETS as an outside item writer of AP exam questions.
